Prerequisites
Sandbox Architecture
The sandbox architecture of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network includes essential components for managing multimedia services over IP networks. The Call Session Control Function (CSCF) handles signaling and call/session control, with roles such as Proxy (P-CSCF), Interrogating (I-CSCF), and Serving (S-CSCF) and the Home Subscriber Serve (HSS). This sandbox provides an interactive environment to explore VoIP, video calling, and other IMS-based services.
Why this Sandbox ?
Explore, innovate, and experiment with the capabilities of IMS technology. It provides a controlled environment where users can prototype new applications, test network functionalities, and analyze performance metrics in an IMS deployment. Potential use cases within the IMS sandbox include SIP registration and deregistration, session establishment, media negotiation, Quality of Service (QoS) management, and more.
Sandbox Use Cases
- Simulate and test key IMS processes such as user registration, call setup, and authentication.
- Configure and manage IMS network elements, including the Proxy-CSCF, Serving-CSCF, and Interrogating-CSCF.
- Experiment with multimedia services like VoIP and video calling over an IMS network.
- Test call routing and signaling between user devices, and simulate SIP-based communication.
- Explore the integration of IMS with external networks for interworking and roaming scenarios.
- Monitor and troubleshoot IMS service quality, including latency, call drops, and registration failures.
- Understand and configure security features, such as encryption and authentication, for IMS-based services.
