Sandbox Architecture

The sandbox architecture of a 4G Core network includes key components that simulate LTE functionalities: the Mobility Management Entity (MME) for handling signaling and user mobility, the Serving Gateway (SGW) for routing and forwarding user data packets, and the Packet Data Network Gateway (PGW) for managing internet connectivity and enforcing policy rules. The Home Subscriber Server (HSS) stores subscriber data and supports authentication and mobility management, while the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) ensures policy enforcement and QoS for data sessions. This architecture provides a comprehensive environment for testing and learning LTE network operations.

Why this Sandbox ?

Understand LTE and 4G core networks through interactive scenarios. Test UE attachment/detachment, bearer creation, and handovers. Examine the functioning of SGW and PGW to deepen your knowledge of 4G operations.

Sandbox Use Cases

  • Simulate and test 4G network processes such as UE attachment, bearer establishment, and session management.
  • Configure and manage basic network elements like the eNodeB, Serving Gateway (SGW), and Packet Gateway (PGW).
  • Experiment with IP address allocation and routing in an LTE network environment.
  • Test data transfer and QoS settings between user devices and the core network.
  • Explore handover processes between eNodeBs and mobility management in a 4G environment.
  • Troubleshoot network issues related to UE registration, bearer creation, and connectivity in the 4G core network.
